We offer a range of open groups on Kilimanjaro in cooperation with the African Walking Company.
Our open groups focus on our preferred Kilimanjaro routes of Shira, Rongai and Lemosho, thus avoiding the busier southern routes. We also offer a small number of departures on the remote and rarely-trodden Northern Circuit route during the peak climbing season.
Our open groups are different to those organised by other companies. Here’s why:
- We offer the highest staff to climber ratio on the mountain (one guide for every two climbers).
- We restrict our group sizes. Typical groups are 8-12, and never larger than 15.
- We use remote routes allowing you to escape the crowds that have come to dominate the busy southern routes.
- No hidden costs. We include everything on the mountain, and accommodation and meals before and after the climb.
- Our staff are paid fair salaries as recommended by the Kilimanjaro Porters’ Association Project (KPAP) – we do not ask you to subsidise their wages with excessive tips.
- And we still manage to be competitive in our pricing!
